April 2011 - CareFirst Animal Hospital Monthly Specials

April:
Spring has sprung, and along with the flowers in bloom and the temperatures warming, out come the bugs! Though fleas and ticks are present all year in North Carolina, the warmer temperatures bring them out in droves. In addition to being an itchy pest, fleas also carry tapeworms, and those irritating ticks carry diseases like Lyme, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Ehrlichia. Now is the time to stock up on all of your monthly flea and tick prevention products so you and your pets aren’t stuck with these creepy-crawlies crawling all over! When you stop by, ask if we have any coupons!

May:
Mom always said, “The best treatment is prevention.” And never did a statement ring truer than with our animal friends! Dogs and cats are experts at hiding discomfort and disease; these instincts come from years of coping in the wild where a sick or weak member of the group would be left behind so as to protect the rest of the pack. That’s why sometimes even the most observant, loving owners take their suddenly ill pet in to the doctor to find an extremely progressed disease. Luckily, tools like ultrasound and radiograph imaging and blood testing allow doctors to diagnose and begin properly treating conditions early enough to cure or decrease their severity even before our canine and feline friends tell us there is a problem! Take advantage of our monthly discount, and during May, come in to CareFirst and receive $20.00 off survey x-rays, an ultrasound, or bloodwork - or do all three for $60 off! All pets, not just older ones, benefit from preventive screening.

June:
June is Microchip Month at CareFirst Animal Hospitals! Don’t spend your summer vacation worried about your pet; no matter how conscientious you are, the reality is that 1 in 3 pets will go missing in their lifetime, and most pets who do will end up losing their collar along the way. Many dogs or cats who run off actually do so while their owners are on vacation having friends pet-sit, because their normal routines are disrupted. However, pets with microchips can be scanned at most animal hospitals and shelters, and over 600,000 pets have been returned through this service! Prevent the worry of having to return from vacation early to search for your lost pet - receive a $10 discount on Home Again microchipping during June and take advantage of an easy, lifesaving form of identification for your pet!
