July 2011 - Monthly Pet Health Focus: (July - September)

July:
In July we will focus on pet behavior.  Do you see unwanted behavior from your dog that you would like to know how to correct the proper, positive way?  Our dog trainers and doctors can help teach you how to train your pet.  We offer one-on-one dayschool lessons, classes in the evenings for dogs and their people, as well as in-home consultations.  Our doctors can also discuss with you the usefulness of behavior-modifying medications that can be used in conjunction with training.  Are your kids out of school?  Get them involved in training too!  Kids that understand things from the family pet’s perspective are much less likely to get bit and much more likely to have positive interactions with the family pet.

August:
Is your pet a bit overweight?  Are his teeth starting to get some tartar accumulation?  Does he have sensitive skin or a sensitive tummy?  There’s a diet for that!  During August we turn our spotlight on diets to make sure your pet is on the proper one.  Proper nutrition can help with a variety of issues.  Our doctors were educated on proper diets and are constantly researching the efficacy of nutrition on pet’s well-being, and would love to share that information with you!   Stop by anytime for a nutrition consult!

September:
During the month of September, we are focusing on Wellness Blood Profiles.  The small amount of blood and urine that we obtain from your pet can tell us a great deal about his or her health, and the doctors use this information about your pet to find things that they cannot see or feel in a regular examination. The Wellness Bloodwork can be used for early detection of problems, as a pre-anesthetic panel, or just for finding a baseline unique to each pet that makes diagnosing illnesses easier if they come along. Those who take advantage of the Wellness Panel during September will receive $20 off the cost, and the panel can be used in preparation for October’s monthly focus-dental health!
