October 2011 - Monthly Focus: October, November, and December!
During October bring your pet by for an Ultrasonic Dental Cleaning to remove any tartar, bacteria buildup, and treat infected teeth and gums as we focus on Dental Care! Periodontal disease can be painful and can include halitosis (bad breath). An Ultrasonic Dental Cleaning at one of our CareFirst Animal Hospital locations is a safe, typically out-patient procedure that will improve your pet’s quality of life. We will also develop with you a personalized home oral-health care plan to prevent your pet’s mouth from becoming infected between dental cleanings. Since we do use sedation in order to get those chompers looking their absolute best, we do ask that you make an appointment for this procedure by calling your veterinary office. Bloodwork can be performed in the week before the procedure by submitting a Wellness Profile, or in the hospital the morning before with a Pre-Anesthetic Profile. Throughout October we are offering $25 off the cost of an Ultrasonic Dental Cleaning for your cat or dog!
Pets are so adept at hiding their symptoms when they don’t feel good that often we don’t know something is wrong until it’s serious. At CareFirst Animal Hospital we strongly believe in preventive medicine. We can keep our patients quality of life the highest by routinely performing diagnostics such as bloodwork, radiographs, or ultrasound, by giving supplements such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin, and by providing education on routine care such as ear cleaning or nail trimming. In November we are encouraging Preventive Care. You can watch our YouTube video on clipping a pet’s nails by clicking here!
Technology has made many things in life easier, and one great technological advance we’ve embraced in veterinary medicine is that of microchips. It takes about 5 seconds to implant a small chip, about the size of a grain of rice, under your pet’s skin, and this can be done without sedation at any time. This chip can be scanned at any veterinary facility, shelter, or rescue organization where your pet may be taken if found. After the chip is implanted we register your information with a national database. According to the HomeAgain website: "Every month, HomeAgain reunites 10,000 pets with the people who love them". December we are offering $10 off the cost of microchipping your pet!
