Our Puppy and Family Pet classes are offered on a rolling-enrollment system. Dogs may enter classes any time after their owner has attended an orientation session, and as soon as there is room in the desired class.
Family Pet classes are divided into three levels. Each level introduces new skills while continuing to work on previous skills with increasing difficulty and distraction. Although each level has specific skill requirements that must be met prior to moving on to the next level, you and your dog will progress through the levels at your own pace. Spend as much or as little time in each level as you need to meet the goals.
Miss a class? No problem! Simply return to the level at which you were previously working, with no fear of falling behind.
Purchase a package of six training sessions over an eight-week period. Then, just sign up for the next orientation and class that fits your schedule.
Orientation is for humans only (no dogs). We will discuss principles of:
This class focuses on socialization with dogs and people, establishing good habits, and dealing with common puppy behaviors.
For older puppies, this class focuses on socialization, establishing good habits, and stopping bad habits from developing. Basic obedience commands will be introduced.
Our Family Pet classes help develop the skills necessary for good companion dogs. The principles of the class build a foundation for dogs advancing into competition levels of sports and obedience.
Family Pet 1—Starting out. Dogs and handlers learn the basics of paying attention, sit, down, stay, recalls, and walking on a loose leash.
Family Pet 2—Distraction Proofing. This level continues to build the dog’s foundation. We introduce new behaviors including: station training, touch, leave it, and beginning to add distractions.
Family Pet 3—Advanced Pet Skills. Dogs will continue to increase their proficiency in basic skills, learning to work under a variety of real-life distractions. Off-leash behavior, heeling, retrieving, tricks, and introduction to dog sports are included.
This is a workshop for dogs that are over-reactive when encountering the presence of other dogs or people. This class focuses on self-control, redirection, and desensitization. Please call us to schedule a consultation to determine if this class is a good fit for your dog.
Competition Obedience (requests completion of Family Pet 3)
Take your dog’s skills to the next level. Work on competitive obedience skills, AKC, UKC, or Rally.
