April 2011 - Community CareGiver Spotlight: Second Chance Pet Adoptions | Care First Animal Hospital

Since 1989, Second Chance Pet Adoptions has been providing homeless pets a second chance at a happy life. As the Triangle area’s oldest no-kill animal shelter, we strive to provide excellent care for each animal that comes into our program and match each one with the best possible home for its needs to ensure a lifetime of safety, love, and companionship.

At our shelter in Raleigh, many of the cats in our program have found a refuge from the streets and abuse. In the homes of volunteer fosters, many more cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies, enjoy temporary companionship while waiting for a forever home of their own. Each animal that comes to Second Chance is given the best medical care possible, including being tested for common diseases, spayed or neutered, and all vaccinations and preventives.

Our dedicated team of volunteers ensures the animals that are with Second Chance receive the best possible care, and they can be found at the shelter every day providing food and water, scooping litter, and spending quality time with the pets. We are always seeking additional volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of animals. Volunteering with Second Chance is a rich and rewarding opportunity to meet new people, give love to animals in need, and have diverse and enriching experiences.

Second Chance Pet Adoptions is a federally-recognized non-profit organization. Because we do not receive funding from government sources, we rely completely on the generous contributions of our donors and supporters to provide care and compassion for the animals in our program. We have several wonderful events throughout the year, including the upcoming Great Human Race and our annual summer Auction for the Animals that allow the community to learn more about Second Chance and provide financial support for the pets.
