Dr. Barbara Butler

Rehab Veterinarian

Dr. Barbara Butler, a Raleigh native and proud alumna of Broughton High School, embarked on a journey of compassionate care and healing in the field of veterinary medicine. Graduating from NCSU-CVM in 1987, she has dedicated her career to delivering quality healthcare to animals.

Her commitment to excellence extends beyond conventional practices. In 2006, Dr. Butler earned her acupuncture certification from the esteemed Chi Institute, unlocking the power of holistic healing. Later, in 2015, she further honed her skills by obtaining certification in Canine Rehabilitation from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute. Embracing a holistic approach, she has delved into herbal studies through the Chi Institute, enriching her practice with alternative healing methods.

Married to a fellow veterinarian specializing in large animals, Dr. Butler finds inspiration in their shared dedication to the well-being of animals. Her familial ties to the veterinary world run deep, with a mother-in-law who graduated from Guelph in Canada in 1950 and a sister-in-law who joined her in graduating from NCSU-CVM in 1987.

The legacy continues with her son, currently a third-year veterinary student at Virginia Tech, and her daughter, embarking on her first year at Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Family roots intertwine with Dr. Butler's passion for veterinary care.

At home, she shares her life with 4 English Setters and a feisty feline, who bring joy and companionship. Beyond the clinic, Dr. Butler indulges in her love for exploration through travel, finds solace in the great outdoors with hiking adventures, and nurtures the earth through gardening.

Her journey in veterinary medicine is not just a profession but a calling—one that combines traditional practices with a holistic touch to ensure the well-being of cherished animal companions.
